When it’s time to let off some steam, this entertaining show is full of silly moments that will get your class excited about engineering.

Engineer Eric and forgetful Fireman Fred work for Pender Railways and their job is to get the steam locomotive Pender ready for work.

Engineer Eric is mature and sensible, and explains patiently to Fred what he needs to do. But when Eric has to leave, forgetful Fred has to call on your pupils to help him get Pender started.

What will they learn?

  • How a steam locomotive works.
  • The movement of an engine’s working parts, such as the pistons.
  • The names of the principal parts of a steam locomotive.
  • They’ll be able to recall and describe how an engine works to somebody else.
